More than a statistic - Meet Rabecca

On most of our t-shirts we list a statistic. Five thousand children per day die from this and three thousand die from that. When you’re dealing with that many people dying it’s hard to even fathom.

Yesterday we were able to finally put a face to these statistics.

Rabecca was a 5-year-old living in Uganda at

Beth, it was so nice to finally meet you as well. I really enjoyed hearing about what you are doing for the refugees in Uganda. You must be so amazed by what God is doing through your organization. I will email Charity and talk with her about her plans to go to Africa, and continue to pray about that God will direct me where he wants me. Keep in touch, hope all is well.

Hi Beth,

Thank you for the question. Hope your trip was good.
Cathy connected me to Help International and they brought the seed to Nairobi, from where our representative's friend took it and will bring it to DRC soon. Hope there won't be problems.
I would love if we could find ways to cooperate. I work on a project in DRC and another one in Uganda. I would write you soon about what exactly we are doing, so if you are interested we can discuss ways to help each others?
Best,
Sonja

Thank you so much for your quick response. I also had another question for you. SInce it's on the border of the DRC, and after reading reports on travel restrictions in Uganda right now, do you have many issues with safety?

Hi Beth!! I got your name from Holly Petitt. I am planning a trip to Africa in January to do some short term volunteer work. Holly thought I might be interested in your organization. I was wondering how your program assisted the refugee camp and if you could tell me a little about what you do. Thanks a bunch!!

Today is the last day of the contest.
We finished about the middle of the pack with the voting. The people in the lead have 10 time the votes we do. I don't know how they did it. Our information went out to thousands of people and people like yourself sent it to everyone and we were in the paper! There were a lot of people that didn't want to give Intuit their information.

I will keep you posted when we hear anything.

Thanks! My hair is naturally dark...but more mouse brown than chestnut..LOL; and as a child I was blonde...so I tend to go for the blonde color especially in summer. BEsides...blonde matches my vivacious outlook and personality. Also, I got my shirts yesterday and I'm wearing my shirt on Saturday when I walk in the March of Dimes walk. I have passed out many of the cards regarding Malaria Day to a few of my co-workers who are especially compassionate folks and door to door in my neighborhood. I have had MANY people struck with the idea that they can protect a family from Malaria for the price of one Starbucks Speciality Drink....I had a Starbuck's cup with me when I passed out the cards. If ONE person donates I will be thrilled. It's not much.....but it is a start. :)

Yes, please let me know how it fits. I like form fitting shirts, but I may have to go with the men's small. I will be there on Saturday and hope you will be too! Would love to see you!

About Me:
I am the founder and president of Think Humanity. Our non-profit provides malaria medication and mosquito nets to refugees in Africa. Also we are in the process of finishing up an orphanage for refugee children in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in western Uganda. My life is now dedicated to improving the lives of refugees. We believe that it is best to give the refugees control and empowerment over projects because they know what is most needed in the camp and how it can best/most effectively be implemented. The ultimate goal is to help build the North Kivu area in the DRC by modeling the same program that we have started in Kyangwali. Please check out our website for further information on our projects.
