Wow Sonja, this article is 'right on' in many ways. I'm actually starting to write a book about a fabulous African doctor and want very much to portrary his country and 'the people' in a positive light. This just reinforces that. Way to go!

Hi guys, nice idea to collect some resources about Africa. I don't have any books to recommend, but i recently read this article and thought that it would be interesting to post it here http://www.granta.com/Magazine/92/How-to-Write-about-Africa/P

I just need to remember who I lent the book out to the last time I lent it out. Let me think about this and see if I can remember. :)

About Me:
After a lifetime of asking God to NOT send me to Africa, I've become a convert! My first trip to the Faith Alive Clinic in Jos, Nigeria (January 2008) literally changed my life and turned my world upside down. The statistics turned into names and faces, new brothers and sisters, and I'm hooked. Now I lead a personal sponsorship program called 'Save-A-Life' which literally does that by providing lifesaving antriretroviral meds for HIV+ people, and am writing a book about the clinic. This blog started to let people know what I was up to in Nigeria during my third trip there (summer 2009). I liked writing it so much, and have so many more stories to share, that I'm continuing. It's great fodder for the book I'm writing about Faith Alive. Feel free to check it out!

Greetings from Nigeria!

Praise God for another successful (yet hot -- 100 degrees!) trip to the Faith Alive Clinic and Elim Elementary School in Jos, Nigeria! This time I went with two other women from church (Cindy and Mollie), and deepened relationships with my dear Nigerian brothers and sisters who send their greetings.

Random thoughts:

Don't casually say 'next time I'm here I'll come to your house' because you might forget all about that comment and really hurt someone's feelings (I learned this the hard way)

Great posts on your blog. I can relate to a lot of it! My life is BM (before Malawi) and AM. I am so grateful for everything that my friends in Malawi have given me!

Brochure
Printing costs for the brochure in color will be about $0.25 a piece. We were talking about printing 500. This is $125. With 9 groups featured in the brochure that is $13.88 a piece. We need to know if all groups are willing to pay that much for these brochures. Please let us know by the end of the day Monday by replying to the Passion Africa Brochure Discussion (click here).
