I am a founding member of a non-profit organization, the Liberia Education Project. The goal is to help with the social and educational needs of children in Liberia, West Africa. I visited Liberia in Dec./08 and Jan./09. I saw war affected children on the streets in the cities and in the villages who are not in school due to the limited number of schools and lack of sponsorship. If anyone is interested in making a difference in the lives of these future leaders, please contact me. I brought a lot of photos back with me of some of these school age children.
Hi Jacob, thanks for the welcome. I am currently working with Food for the Hungry and Azzi Life to create sustainable business in Rwanda. My business partner and I are product designers and hope to use our skills and create fair trade opportunities for coops in Rwanda. Your site looks great and it's so inspiring and exciting to network with so many others who have similar goals.
Hi Jacob,
Hope things are going well for you. Hope school finished up well for you. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet when you were out here - I left for Ghana while you were here, and it was crazy getting everything ready this time. Keep in touch!

Hello Jacob, thanks for the welcome. The Liberia Education Project seems wonderful. I hope you take some time to look at our site when it launches (early July). I think it has the potential to become something very powerful and effective if people get involved. If you are interested in seeing what kinds of ideas Africans (in their respective countries as well as in the diaspora) together with development professionals can bring to help the continent grow, then sign up to get an email when the site launches here.. People who are passionate about Africa is exactly what our project needs.
Hi Jacob, thanks for welcoming me to this community. To answer your question on what interests me about Africa .... well I'm African have lived there vast majority in my life. So my interest in Africa is in my DNA.
My main focus is women in Africa - I have seen up close and personal that grants and charity have their place, but can never have the impact that business does. My dream is to be instrumental in alleviating poverty the only way I can see to alleviate poverty is to make a profit and equitably redistribute it through the market.
